I lived at the Fraternity for two and a half years. Knowing me at nineteen, you would have never guessed I would submit myself to that kind of environment. Well...you do crazy things for love and then you get used to it and even enjoy the situation you have put yourself in. That is what happened to me. I was only supposed to sublet Alan's room while he was in Europe for the month of June. Then he came back and asked me to stay for the summer. That turned into a much longer stay. I quickly realized that I had keep all my own dishes in my room and to never, ever leave food you want to keep in the kitchen. The best part was having a dual shower head and the worst part was the gross kitchen.
I learned a lot about brotherhood, leadership and male hierarchy. You cannot judge a group of people without knowing them or living amongst them. Being a woman and living in a fraternity was truly a unique experience, one I would not trade. I left the house knowing I had twenty brothers I could call on at anytime. I had established myself as the 'first-lady' and tried to live up to the title. Thanks guys. |
