Punta Del Este & La Paloma
|
The 'Hamptons' of South America is right, the beachside at Punta Del Este is very upscale and
even the prices at the hostel matched- 20$ each per night..ouch. The beach was very gorgeous and
rich Argentinians were there on summer holiday, making it a very beautiful scene. The one night
we went out it was lots of fashion and the streets were teeming with Argentinians that seemed to
be in their teens! So, after only two days, we were out of there and moved on to a more 'camp' like
atmosphere, where it was pitched tents for these vacationing people and a much slower pace to it
all. The beach wasn't much to brag about, but it was all ours due to the less-than-stellar weather!
The ferryride
over was at
9:30 a.m. and
we stayed up
all night
before packing
all our stuff
and saying
goodbye to our
apartment!
Not to
mention
playing with
sparklers on
our balcony at
4 a.m.!!
Here are two of La Paloma's CAMP COUNSELLORS!!!!
It was meditation time on the beach with
our new friends Kristof and Ben!!!

"LUCKIEST DAY": It all started when we arose unusually early at 8a.m. to workout on the beach with a few new friends, Ben
from Canada and Kristof from Germany. Shortly thereafter we learned that there wasn't any space left in the hostel for us to
stay and as usual didn't make a reservation....soooo.... we packed up and stored our bags and headed off to the bus station to buy
tickets to try and get to another little beachside haven called Punta Del Diablo. Sounds omninous no? After we purchased our
tickets, I noticed there was some currency on the floor- 200 pesos to be exact! Well, that bought the four of us breakfasts of
giant hamburgers (mine was veggie) known as Bauru's after we had a thoroughly great time doing yoga, pilates, push-ups and
butterfly at the beach. Then we learned how to change the music on our i-pods! Yeah! Reorganization! Glorious, glorious
reorganization! We were running out of time so we had to haul ass to the hostel; pick up bags; haul ass to the bus station. We
met Ben and Kristof there so they could return my music cd that Amir had burned for me prior to leaving and guess what? They
bought us a veggie quiche for the busride! Sooo nice!
