Life as we know it....

The return to California has been eventful to say the least.  I learned some very valuable lessons about life in general (always a good thing I think).  The first thing is that my kitty Bosco, got hit by a car and killed.  This has been really hard for me but it is of great comfort to know that he was well loved and cared for by the brothers of Phi Delta Theta.  Truly, my gratitude is great.  The second is that I went to Tassajara, a zen-buddhist retreat in the mountains of Carmel for seven days.  Learned a little about myself and what I should do to focus a little better.  The third, my distant future is looking a little bit clearer with my intentions on finding employment or scholastic endeavors in London a definitive interest.  Rosemary, look out London is never gonna be the same! Yet, I am still living solely day to day and when asked what my plans are I always respond with "I don't know, what do you want to do?"  which is a cool way to be.  Headed to Tennesse on Monday for five days to visit grandma.

"To have your course in practice all planned out means you are never fully present in the moment.  You are always sliding forward into an imagined future, comparing what is occurring now with what you plan to have happen.  And you are always disappointed, because the future is seldom as we plan it.  At least 90 percent of our dreams for the future never come true and are wasted mental effort.  The only place we are truly alive in is the present moment.  This experience of being fully awake in the present moment happens so seldom that when it does we call it a peak experience and remember it all our lives."
